A Day of Cookies, Yoga & Mindfulness At The Barbara C. Wilson Preschool

Margot Harris, author of Cookie Doughga: A Book about yoga, mindfulness and cookies! to lead Yoga + Mindfulness Program

Brookville Center for Children’s Services Barbara C. Wilson Preschool, located at 280 Crossways Park Drive in Woodbury, will be inviting Long Island-based author Margot Harris, a certified children’s yoga and mindfulness teacher with a background in early childhood education, to lead Yoga + Mindfulness Programs in every classroom on May 15 from 9:15 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Yoga + Mindfulness program is just one way the Barbara C. Wilson Preschool continues to provide educational, enriching, and fun experiences for students to grow and explore the world around them in a safe and inclusive environment.

With May being Mental Health Awareness Month, the Barbara C. Wilson Preschool recognizes the importance of body and mind awareness, which practices like yoga and mindfulness promotes. Margot’s background in working with children with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) will help in leading these little yogis through an adaptive yoga journey featuring play, music and more.

About Margot Harris

Margot, a former preschool teacher of 10 years, left the classroom in 2015 to pursue teaching yoga and mindfulness full-time. Her passion of teaching intuition and presence to children led her to realizing she was ignoring her own passion of writing and journaling that she once practiced in her youth, paired with her continuous passion of providing her students with new children’s books titles. At the start of the pandemic, she stopped dreaming and began writing her debut children’s book Cookie Doughga: A Book about yoga, mindfulness and cookies! Cookie Doughga, which currently has a 5-star rating on Amazon, follows Maria and her Mama as they make cookies shaped like yoga poses and practice the poses together. In this sweet and simple rhyming story, children can explore 10 foundational yoga poses as well as quick and effective mindfulness techniques to help in times of worry and stress.
