Class of 1964 Pride in Port weekend reunion

By the Pride in Port Committee

More than 40 alumni from Schreiber High School’s Class of 1964 will gather to celebrate the 60th anniversary of their graduation. While some alumni still live in Port Washington and neighboring areas, others come from as far as Montana, Texas, Arizona, California and even Guam to see their former classmates.

The weekend-long activities were intentionally scheduled to coincide with Pride in Port. Many attending alumni will be marching in the Pride in Port parade, holding a Schreiber Class of 1964 banner.

Lifelong residents of Port Washington Amy Bass and Fred Falconer, along with Carol Seeger Risher, are organizing the activities. Aside from marching in the Pride in Port parade, the alumni will enjoy reconnecting with their classmates at a gala being held at the Port Washington Yacht Club and an informal gathering on Sunday at the Hilton Garden Inn. Some will also enjoy playing pickleball and taking a tour of Schreiber, as well as a possible meeting with Schreiber Times student writers.

Class of ’64 student body president Doug Pitman, a doctor now living in Montana, created two videos for the alumni to enjoy. The videos were compiled using footage from the Port Washington Public Library and a video his father shot of Doug marching in the Memorial Day parade all those years ago.

“It is so special for our classmates to connect with each other, to celebrate and share memories of growing up in Port Washington,” Coordinator of the Class of ’64 Reunion and active Port Washington community resident Amy Bass said. “We are proud to be part of Port’s past…and proud to be part of its present. We have enormous pride in our Port roots and connections.”
