North High Student Wins SAAWA Essay Contest

Tamas Smulovics, a junior at North High School, has been awarded the top prize in the 2024 South Asian American Women’s Alliance (SAAWA) Essay Writing Contest. The prompt for this year’s essay contest was, “How will ChatGPT (Generative Pre-training Transformer) change schools in the 2020s?” As the first-place winner, Tamas will receive a monetary prize and he will serve as a panelist for an upcoming discussion on the topic.

The SAAWA Essay Writing Contest, now in its tenth year, is open to middle school and high school students in the Tri-State area. The mission of SAAWA is to “encourage, promote leadership and innovation among students in STEM fields to help build tomorrow’s workforce among the community.”
