Garden City Hosts St. Paul’s Kick-Off Meeting

More than a hundred Garden City residents attended a recent meeting with Brandstetter & Carroll, consultants hired by the Board of Trustees of the Incorporated Village of Garden City to assess what parts of St. Paul’s residents want to save, residents’ willingness to pass for restorations, and the Village’s recreation needs.

Mayor Mary Carter Flanagan said in a statement, “The Board of Trustees and the Advisory Committee on St. Paul’s have determined that the most important FIRST step is to find out what the community wants. Obviously, any plan will be costly, so it’s crucial that the village residents are behind it. We have been very careful not to assume that our interests are your interests and we know that your interests matter most.”

Brandstetter & Carroll has begun collecting data from residents and will respond this June with their assessments.

On Friday, June 14, the consultants will attend a Flag Day Luncheon at the Senior Center, beginning at 12 p.m. Brandstetter & Carroll representatives will be present for part of the luncheon, and will be available afterwards to meet with senior residents of Garden City. That evening, the consultants will attend the Patriotic Kick Off to Summer Festival on Seventh Street; the following day, the consultants will stop by the Garden City Pool, where pool members can speak to the consultant team.
