Nassau County Scouts have been busy this summer, progressing in their rankings and completing projects for their communities. Here are some notable scout achievements in our area!
Levittown
Levittown’s Boy Scout Troop 330 held a Court of Honor Ceremony for their newest Eagle Scout, Aidan Prescott. State Sen. Steve Rhoads and Assemblyman John Mikulin were in attendance. Troop members, their families, and the community celebrated Aidan’s exceptional achievement and honored his unwavering commitment to the community and the principles of Scouting.
Seaford
Boy Scout Troop 581 held a Car Wash Fundraiser at United Methodist Church in Seaford. It was great to see the Scouts having fun and giving back to the community. Their hard work and dedication serve as a testament to the positive influence scouting has on our youth, instilling in them the importance of service, teamwork, and perseverance. State Sen. Steve Rhoads joined the troop and congratulated them on a job well done.
Wantagh
On June 19, Girl Scout Troop 3305’s Faith Stallone of Wantagh earned the Gold Award, Girl Scouting’s highest honor. For her project, Faith worked to educate and spread awareness to her peers, her community, and church members about food insecurity and how they could help. Putting in a total of 97 hours into her project, she established a food drive as part of Battle of the Classes at Wantagh High School, called the Hunger Games. When her church, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Levittown, burned down in December 2020, Faith rebuilt the food pantry and created a program where the youth of the church earn community service hours by running the pantry. “She is a compassionate and dedicated leader who makes our community proud,” said Senator Rhoads, who also supported a legislative resolution in Stallone’s honor which was passed by the State Senate to honor her achievement.
Nassau County Comptroller Elaine Phillips also attended to celebrate such an important milestone. “As comptroller, I have been blessed to have the opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of great women in our county,” she said. “Only 5.4% of eligible Girl Scouts earn the Gold Award… I presented Faith with a citation congratulating her on this milestone accomplishment and thanked her for making an impact on her community while gaining valuable experience and learning lessons that will last her a lifetime.”
Also in Wantagh, Michael Colaianni of Boy Scout Troop 96 achieved scouting’s highest honor, the rank of Eagle Scout! Senator Rhoads congratulated Colaianni and presented him with a certificate of achievement alongside his family and fellow scouts.
