The Nicholas Center Podcast Marks First Anniversary With 25th Interview

The Nicholas Center Podcast, Agents of Humanity is celebrating its first anniversary with its 25th interview.

“How do you make the world a better place?” ask the four co-hosts, Tara, Jason, Rob and Tomas, all autistic individuals.

“To be part of a podcast that provides disabled individuals with a voice gives me great pride,” says Rob.

The co-hosts asked this question to a variety of guests including a SAG-AFTRA voice-over actor, an inventor with 49 patents, a film maker and surfer, several elected officials, a police chief, a Children’s Museum Director.

The co-hosts offer a neurodiverse perspective on an impressive range of topics learning how each contributes to the greater good in a very special way. Together with assist from the TNC Development Team and the Media Lab Coordinator, they research guests, craft questions and conduct interviews twice a month – available on most audio streaming services.

As Agents celebrate their first anniversary, co-hosts Tara, Jason, Rob and Tomas express deep gratitude for the growing community of listeners. Reflecting on this past year, they’ve taken a seat on the other side of the mic and are answering some questions themselves.

What does it mean to you to be part of the Agents of Humanity Podcast?

Rob: “I believe neurodiverse people provide an invaluable service to the community. I’m very proud to be a part of it. I’m immensely grateful to all those involved with making this possible. It’s been the most humbling and rewarding experience of my life – allowing me to have a voice and give a voice to others. I’ve learned Jason sings beautifully and that Tomas and Tara have really good interests, some that I’m interested in as well.”

Tara: “It’s really fun, I like being here and every day we have people to support us if we need help. They encourage us when we’re doing a good job. My favorite guest was my Bach to Rock music teacher Alanna, she had lots of fun with all of us.”

What’s something you’ve learned during your time on the podcast?

Tomas: “I’ve learned a lot – how to remember my lines in the script and to be patient when my turn is over. I’m proud of myself for learning new things. The guest that was the most interesting to me was Chris Holliday of the Jacob Burns Film Center –  he met Ian McKellen from Lord of the Rings!”

Co-host, Jason

What has this experience been like for you?

Jason: “We interview a lot of interesting people and we all appreciate each other… that makes me happy.”
