Jacqueline Froccaro-Class of 2011

Jackie Froccaro was an athlete for the ages at Schreiber. Excelling in tennis and lacrosse, she received seven varsity letters. She fell short of achieving a fourth season in tennis, only because of a sidelining injury of a torn ACL, but worked persistently hard to return in the spring of her junior year in lacrosse.

Her injury of a torn ACL never defined a weakness. Instead, it only stimulated her to work harder and come back stronger.

Being a three-time varsity team leader in tennis, Jackie partnered with her cousin Alexa to win the Long Island Championship in 2nd doubles twice and repeated the achievement as a senior playing 1st team doubles.

Her strength and dominance on the court allowed her a two-time NYSPHSAA All-Conference and All-Division selection as a freshman and sophomore, Most Improved during her freshman season, and a USTA Nassau County All-County Selection her senior year. She was named captain her senior year and the team’s MVP.

Jackie started in the PYA program and excelled throughout her four-year varsity high school career, and she was a constant threat on attack, a center standout with draw control, and a defensive crush on a ride.

Her final statistics were overwhelming, with 188 goals, 30 assists and 250 draw controls.

Her accolades began during her freshman year, receiving immediate All-Conference selection and in sophomore year she received an Honorable Mention All-County.

As a junior, coming off of her perseverance to return from her injury, Jackie, as team captain, contributed strength and fortitude to lead the team to a Conference III Championship and received Academic All-County honors.

As a returning senior year captain, she was an All-County awardee named the Team MVP.

Jackie was also the recipient of the prestigious Paul D. Schreiber Joseph Augustino Award for Most Outstanding Female Athlete and the Dan Biro Memorial Scholarship. She also received the Excellence in Physical Education Award.

Recording at least a hat-trick in seven games while playing her freshman year in all Villanova Women’s Lacrosse games, Jackie made her mark on a team determined for greatness.

Playing in the BIG EAST conference, she recorded multi-point games in 11 games. She was immediately named on the BIG EAST 2nd and All-Tournament teams.

During her sophomore year, Jackie again sustained yet another ACL tear. As devastating as that could be, and as easy as it could have been to hang up her cleats, Jackie was determined to return to the field. The loss of her playing was felt, but her impact on returning had a powerful effect on herself and her team.

Jackie participated three more years, adding a season during graduate school, and cinched being named 2x team co-captain, led the conference in draw controls (scoring 16th in the country), qualified for the BIG EAST Tournament, was named the BIG EAST Attacker of the Year (first ever appearance in Women’s lacrosse history), as well as First Team All-Big East Unanimous Selection.

She finished her career with 130 overall goals and 24 assists and again returned to her dominance in the center of the field, having 138 draw controls.

She currently still holds 3rd place in Villanova Women’s’ Lacrosse all-time record in goals scored (130), 4th in points (154), 1st in free-position goals (28) and 4th in draw controls (138).

Jackie was named to the LI Lacrosse Journal’s All-Decade team 2010-2019 but has since moved on from lacrosse, although she played for the NYAC Lacrosse Club team for some postgraduate years, and has found a new passion in pickleball.
