Plainview-Old Bethpage Chamber of Commerce selects new charity partner

BY Barbara Mars

The Plainview-Old Bethpage Chamber of Commerce has announced that Jericho Cares has been selected as its latest charity partner.  Since 2020, the 501c3 organization’s mission has been to assist families in need. Its local network of volunteers provides clothing, food, and other basic supplies and also helps families celebrate birthdays and holidays.

A grassroots organization that began amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Jericho Cares started with a backpack drive, a Zoom call, and a group of women who got together to share voices of kindness and offer support for local families in need. In just a few short months they were able to understand the needs in their community more fully. The group now services families within a 20-mile range of Jericho.

Charity founder Fran O’Connor said, “Jericho Cares is truly grateful for being selected as the POB Chamber of Commerce charity partner for 2024-2025.  This collaboration fills us with joy and anticipation for the year ahead.  We look forward to working together to make a difference, one family at a time. “

For the next ten months (September 2024 through June 2025) the chamber will help Jericho Cares raise awareness and funds. Please take a moment to learn more about the organization and consider donating to chamber fundraisers at networking events and on other occasions. You can also contribute by volunteering or donating directly to them at www.jerichocares.org/
