Manhasset elementary students from Munsey Park and Shelter Rock participated in Health and Wellness Week from Jan. 22-26. The week was organized by the SCA Health and Wellness Committee, the Manhasset Coalition Against Substance Abuse and the Parent Association for Special Education to promote healthy habits in the body, mind and soul.
Each day of the week featured a different theme such as “Vision Board Monday” and “Kindness Tuesday.” Activities relating to the theme of the day were incorporated into daily lesson plans. Students created their own vision boards, filled their school’s Kindness Tree with acts of kindness, focused on gratitude, made their wishes known on anonymous “I Wish” cards and completed a nighttime mental health check.
In addition, each school held an energizing KerboomKidz assembly for all students. KerboomKidz is a group exercise program for students in grades K-12 that teaches them how to step into a healthier lifestyle. Both Munsey Park and Shelter Rock students had fun moving and dancing in their respective auditorium with the KerboomKidz team.
The week was a successful celebration of a happy mind, body and soul.
