The Manhasset-Lakeville Fire/Water District Commissioners, Officers of the Manhasset-Lakeville Fire Department and Manhasset Post 304 of the American Legion are sponsoring the Manhasset Memorial Day Parade and Service on Monday, May 27, 2024. This is a community-led event, a testament to our shared values and commitment to honoring our American heroes. The Parade begins at 10:00 AM on Plandome Road, with excellent public viewing along the route. It starts at Plandome Court and concludes at Memorial Place. The Memorial Service will begin immediately following the conclusion of the Parade at the Mary Jane Davies Green Park on Plandome Rd. and Manhasset Av. Twenty-five community organizations and six bands, including our very own Manhasset-Lakeville and Plandome Fire Departments, are scheduled to march. We invite you to be a part of this meaningful event as we remember and honor our heroes. God bless America!
Memorial Day Parade and Service
All Manhasset residents, their families, and friends are invited to attend the events on Monday, May 27, to join in this remembrance of the great sacrifices of our American heroes.
Flag Planting
Post 304 and Boy Scout Troop 97 will place American flags on the graves of veterans in local cemeteries and, with other American Legion posts, decorate the graves at the Long Island National Cemetery in Pinelawn. Post 304 has also donated American flags to be placed on the street light poles along Plandome Road.
The Parade
The Memorial Day Parade begins promptly at 10:00 A.M. Its route will be along Plandome Road from Plandome Court to Memorial Place, with excellent public viewing along the entire length. Twenty-five organizations and six bands are scheduled to march. The parade will include fire trucks from the Manhasset-Lakeville and Plandome Fire Departments.

Memorial Service
The parade will end at Mary Jane Davies Green, where the Memorial Service will be held immediately following its conclusion. The program will begin with our National Anthem.
The Chaplain of Manhasset Post 304 will read the Roll Call of Deceased Veterans of the past year. Two members of the Manhasset High School Band will render taps as the American Flag is brought to full mast. A bagpiper will play Amazing Grace as a wreath is placed before the Gold Star Monument.
Awards will be presented to young men and women from Manhasset High School and St. Mary’s High School.
American Legion Post 304 Commander John Iacono will deliver remarks on the true meaning of Memorial Day. The service will conclude with a performance by the Manhasset High School Band, followed by God Bless America. Bearers of floral tributes will then proceed to the monument at Memorial Field.
