Oyster Bay High School seniors talk with college representatives

On Sept. 11, Oyster Bay High School seniors explored colleges and spoke with school representatives. Seniors had the opportunity to ask questions and think about their future.

The college fair is an annual event that is offered to students. It is held in the upper lobby of the gym.

Superintendent Francesco Ianni said that these fairs are intended to offer students direct access to college and university options. Oyster Bay High School invites over 100 colleges to these annual fairs, 90% of which are four-year colleges.

In addition to these fairs, guidance counselors will meet with senior students one-on-one to determine their best fit. Later this year, counselors will begin meeting with the junior class to prepare them for the application process ahead.

88% of the class of 2024 was accepted into college (an increase from 83% in previous years), and 91% of last year’s class committed to pursuing a four-year degree (an increase from 82%).

Last year, the Oyster Bay-East Norwich School District’s senior class graduated at a 100% rate, an unprecedented accomplishment. 2024 graduates committed to schools including Columbia University, Princeton University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Michigan State University, Hofstra University and Stony Brook University.
