Food, Drinks And Music At Glen Cove’s Summer Kickoff

The City of Glen Cove will host “Spring into Summer,” their summer kickoff event, this June. The festival will feature food, drinks, music, entertainment and raffles for the community to enjoy.

Spring into Summer will take place on Friday, June 21 at the Ferry Terminal, Garvies Point from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Admission to the event is free, and food, drinks and raffles will be available for purchase.

The last event of its kind was held in 2022 and the Mayor’s Office is happy to announce its return this year.

“The last time we did a similar event was Sip into Summer,” explains Rose Melillo, spokesperson for the Office of the Mayor.

The previous event, called “Sip into Summer,” proved to be a success.

“Sip into Summer was an exciting way to begin the Summer of 2022,” said Mayor Pamela Panzenbeck. “The residents of Glen Cove and the local communities came together to enjoy an evening of delicious food, wonderful music, raffle chances, socializing and so much fun!”

Like Sip into Summer, this year’s free event is intended for all ages. There will be face painting and balloons for kids, raffles to enter and a diverse assortment of food for purchase. Residents will be offered free Starbucks coffee, among other items.

The food trucks at Spring into Summer will feature a wide variety of cuisines, everything from oysters and seafood to pizza and souvlaki.

In order to feature members of the community, many of the food trucks at the event will be locally based. Sid’s All American, a popular location in Glen Cove, will have a food truck at this summer’s kickoff.

Sid’s was founded in 2014 by a Glen Cove native, and has proven to be a fan-favorite in town. The restaurant serves American classics like hamburgers, chicken wings and cheesesteaks.

Gooseberry Grove, an ice cream and dessert shop in Oyster Bay, will set up a food truck for residents to enjoy. The truck will offer both sweet and savory snacks for all to enjoy. Souvlaki Joint, a restaurant in Glen Cove, will have a truck available, and Zozzo’s Pizza, another locally-owned business, will attend the event as well.

Though they are not local, Cousins Maine Lobster will set up a truck of their own for patrons. With such a wide diversity of food, residents will be sure to find some of their favorites.

By including so many local businesses in the event, Spring into Summer looks to include the community in every aspect. Organizers say that supporting small businesses is an important aspect of this summer’s kickoff.

For attendees over the age of 21, there will be wine and beer available as well.

Similar to Sip into Summer, this year’s event will feature music and entertainment. The DJ will play music that can be enjoyed for patrons of all ages and will take requests from the crowd as well. This DJ selected has attended previous community events, and the Office of the Mayor is excited to welcome him back for Spring into Summer.

The city will also offer four different raffle prizes at the event, including Apple airpods, a big screen television and two children’s bicycles. In addition, there will be a 50/50 raffle.

Considering the success of Sip into Summer, as well as the community feedback they received, the Mayor’s Office is excited for this year’s kickoff.

“With generous sponsorship support and the help of our amazing volunteers, we were able to organize an awesome day for family and friends to gather for a special day of celebration,” Mayor Panzenbeck said.

Spring into Summer aims to bring the community together. The City of Glen Cove hopes to foster community between residents throughout the summer as they organize future events.

Additionally, the mayor paid special thanks to the city’s volunteer Special Event Committee.
