First Annual Gold Coast Book Fair Hosted In Oyster Bay

From June 18 through June 30, Theodore’s Books offered three days of programming, events and workshops for the first annual Gold Coast Book Fair. The event aimed to bring the Long Island book community together, and offered activities for all ages.

The weekend included keynote speakers, panel discussions, book signings and a street fair. The kick off event featured guest speaker Erik Larson, a historical nonfiction author. The bestselling author discussed his newest book, The Demon of Unrest, on June 28.

On June 29, authors spoke at Long Island University in Brookeville. Speakers included novelists, historians, romance, fantasy and mystery writers, poet laureates, among others. There was a variety of genres showcased at the festival for all members of the community.

An outdoor marketplace opened in downtown Oyster Bay on Sunday, June 30. Downtown Main Street was closed for pedestrian use, and vendors, authors and food trucks set up for attendees to enjoy.

Food and drink vendors lined the street, like First Class Trolley Food Truck and Knot Of This World Fresh Baked Pretzels, and restaurants on main street remained open for attendees to enjoy.
