Elementary Students Raise Over $600

Mineola School District is proud to recognize the Meadow Drive School kindergarten and second-grade students for collectively fundraising over $600 dollars to donate.

The kindergarten class raised $460 to donate to Operation Smile, which is a non-profit organization that performs cleft lip and cleft palate repair to children internationally. Once the students learned about Operation Smile, they planned a fundraiser in order to raise money for the organization.

The kindergarten class hosted a bracelet fundraiser sale and made handmade bracelets to sell for the cause. Students made a video commercial that was shared with the school community to spread awareness.

Kindergarten teachers Ms. Dilemme, Ms. Reyhanian, Ms. O’Malley, Ms. Silverman, Ms. Paulik and Ms. Andreuzzi guided students through planning and execution of the fundraiser.
With the generosity of parents, friends and faculty, the class raised $460 for Operation Smile.

The students in the kindergarten class received certificates from Operation Smile for all of their hard work and dedication.

Meadow Drive School’s second-grade class raised $176.50 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The students were inspired by a Mineola high-schooler who raised money for patients fighting cancer.

With the help of their school principal, Jennie Fahey, and Meadow Drive’s Ms. Fahey, the students formed Joy Club. The club partnered with high school sophomore Justin Spera and his “Changing TOMorrows” fundraiser.

The students met with Spera to plan a bake sale and bracelet fundraiser at a PTA meeting. All proceeds from the fundraiser went to the Leukemia and Lymphoma society. With the help of parents and staff, the second-graders raised $176.50.

Collectively, Meadow Drive School students raised $636.50 for Operation Smile and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The Mineola School District is proud of its students for their dedication to helping others and organizing these fundraisers.
