Covert Avenue Street Fair Returns

The Annual Covert Avenue Street Fair is set to return in a big way on Saturday, Oct. 5, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., bringing a day packed with fun, food and community spirit. Hosted by the Covert Avenue Chamber of Commerce, the fair will span one-third of a mile, transforming Covert Avenue from Cisney Avenue to Tulip Avenue into a bustling hub of activity.

“It’s back in a big way, and we can’t wait to see everyone out on Covert Avenue enjoying the day,” Chamber President Rene Jorglewich said. As in years past, the street fair will include a wide array of attractions designed to cater to all ages, from craft vendors to food trucks and thrilling activities for children.

Jorglewich, owner of Body Works Day Spa on the avenue, emphasized the importance of supporting local businesses during the event, mentioning that the fair is a great opportunity to showcase the thriving businesses along Covert Avenue. One of the fair’s most anticipated features is its giant craft fair, with more than 100 artisans and merchandise vendors showcasing their wares.

For families, the Kids Funzone promises to be a highlight, featuring enormous slides, bouncers, obstacle courses, a rock wall and even a mechanical bull for more daring attendees.

“The mechanical bull was a big hit the year prior and we’re excited to bring it back,” Jorglewich said, noting that it adds an extra layer of excitement for attendees.

Foodies are in for a treat at the Covert Avenue Foodie Fest, curated by one of Long Island’s top popup food truck producers. This year’s food truck lineup includes 11 of Long Island’s most popular vendors, offering a global culinary experience right on the street.

“The food trucks have been a great addition these last few years, especially since we’ve lost some of our local food stores,” Jorglewich said. “We’re hoping to have more local eateries next year, but for now, the trucks are a fantastic draw.” You will find everything from empanadas to pizza, Greek, barbecue and more.

As attendees feast on the diverse culinary offerings, they’ll also enjoy live entertainment from DJ Greg of Supreme Parties, who will keep the energy high throughout the day with a vibrant mix of music. Whether you’re in the mood to dance or simply relax and enjoy the tunes, DJ Greg’s performance is sure to add to the festive atmosphere.

In addition to the crafts, food and entertainment, the street fair will feature its annual pumpkin patch, just in time for the autumn season. Families can pick out pumpkins to take home, adding a seasonal touch to the day’s activities.

The Covert Avenue Street Fair has been a staple of the community for years, offering a day for neighbors to come together, support local businesses and celebrate the unique spirit of the area.

“We’re celebrating our 20-year anniversary this month at Body Works Day Spa, and it’s incredible to see how this event has grown,” Jorglewich said. “We’ve added new things to the street fair every year, but the sense of community has always remained the same.”

Admission to the event is free and attendees are encouraged to arrive early to take full advantage of the day’s offerings. In the event of rain, the fair will be held on Oct. 19. Whether you’re a longtime resident or visiting Covert Avenue for the first time, the street fair promises to be a day full of fun, food and unforgettable memories.
